Preliminary Exercise: My Camera Work: Camera Composition
In this lesson the main goal was to apply the camera work techniques and create the camera shots for the main concepts of camerawork, shot size, camera angles, camera framing, and camera composition. In the assignment we had to put together a PowerPoint that was divided into four separate sections. The four sections were: Section 1: Shot Sizes, Section 2: Camera Angles, Section 3: Camera Framing, Section 4: Camera Composition. In the Fourth section we had to take pictures that showed different Camera Composition shots and define their purpose. A Camera Composition shot refers to the way elements of a scene are arranged in a camera frame. Camera Composition shots are important because it directs the audience's attention and keeps them engaged.
In this assignment we learned how to take pictures of different Camera Composition shots and be able to explain their purposes. We also were able to get a deeper understanding on why Camera Composition shots are used and why they are important. The different Camera Composition shots we learned about and worked on were: The Rule of Thirds Shot #1, Symmetry Shot #2, Asymmetry Shot #3, Point Shot #4, Leading lines Shot #5, Shapes Shot (geometric, organic, and irregular/ abstract shapes) (your choice) #6, Deep Focus Shot #7, Shallow Focus (Foreground In-Focus and background Out-of-Focus Shot) #8, Shallow Focus (Background In Focus and foreground Out-of-Focus Shot) #9. In this assignment me (Alivia .C) and my teammate Summa. W worked on creating the PowerPoint.
