Research: Exercise 3: Hair & Makeup

The objective of this assignment was to work in groups of (2 or 3) to analyze the elements of setting, acting, costumes, hair, and makeup and did they support the genre of a film opening of their choice. In film hair and makeup have the same concept as costumes. They are used to express a character's personality and help tell stories about the characters past and present life. Hair and makeup help create a new person for the film. Transforming an actor's whole look can help the actor get more into character and make the film have more interesting elements. When creating a film, the way a character is portrayed on the film is important because the film being bases around these characters means that they need to look and try to portray the personality this character is supposed to have.

In this assignment I learned that Hair and Makeup and costumes all help in building the characters. Using Hair and Makeup helps the audience get a better understanding on the character and their stance in the film. The goal of the exercise was to understand and show that we understood the elements of Mise en Scene and could show that we did understand how Mise en Scene works. My team applying Mise en Scene to the opening clip of a film helped us get a better understanding of the film and also how the use of Hair and Makeup play a big role in creating a film. On this assignment 3 students worked on creating it. Summa. W, Aleymar. N, and me (Alivia. C).
