Preliminary Exercise: My Camera Work: Shot Size

In this lesson the main goal was to apply the camera work techniques and create the camera shots for the main concepts of camerawork, shot size, camera angles, camera framing, and camera composition. In the assignment we had to put together a PowerPoint that was divided into four separate sections. The four sections were: Section 1: Shot Sizes, Section 2: Camera Angles, Section 3: Camera Framing, Section 4: Camera Composition. In the first section we had to take pictures that showed different Shot sizes and define their purpose. A shot size means how much of the scene is included in the picture. Sometimes it can contain information about the setting or information about the characters. Shot sizes are important because it makes sure that the audience see the film the way the director wants them to.

In this assignment we learned how to take pictures of different shot sizes and be able to explain their purposes. We also were able to get a deeper understanding on why shot sizes are used and why they are important. The different shot sizes we learned about and worked on were:  #1 Close-up, #2 Medium Close-up, #3 Extreme Close-up, #4 Medium Shot, #5 Cowboy Shot/MFS: Medium-Full Shot, #6 Wide Shot/LS: Long Shot, #7 Establishing Shot, #8 Full Shot. In this assignment me (Alivia .C) and my teammate Summa. W worked on creating the PowerPoint
