Final Film

Image
Creating the final film was definitely the best and it felt good having the complete product. After me and my team got our feedback, we figured out what we need to change and planned out a day to be able to film on. We made sure that the final product contained more context on the characters and the theme was more put out in the film. Finishing this project was such an excitement and it felt good to see the final product come together after so much time, planning, and effort put into this project.

Peer Feedback

Getting the peer feedback was definitely nerve wrecking and caused some anxiety amongst my team. The feedback that we received was that we need to give more context on the characters. This was definitely understood by my team and we took this feedback into great consideration. After receiving the feedback we brainstormed some ideas about how we can give more context to the characters in such a small time period and how it would be effective enough so the audience could get a clear understanding on the characters. After we brainstormed, we filmed some more clips and scenes that we think would give more context on the characters. After we then edited the clips and put them together to work towards completing our final draft of the opening film.

First Draft of Film

The first draft is definitely the most important and putting together the first draft was very time consuming. Even though it was time consuming it was definitely an enjoyable process. It was also cool seeing the progress on our film and seeing that all the work me and my team have put in finally was all put together.

Post Production: Ending of editing

Image
Post production: Ending of editing. Towards the end of editing we rewatched the film over and over and added anything we needed to add. When rewatching the film we definitely made some changes and adjustments while also making some improvements on certain scenes as well. Once we finished editing it was another big relief and it felt like one more step to complete the course of media studies. Editing was probably one of the best parts about this project because I was able to see all the hard work that I was putting into the class and project was finally coming together and the vision me and my team created finally came together.

Post Production: Beginning of Editing

Image
Post Production: Beginning of editing we decided that the person on the team that has the best skills with editing and working technology would be mainly in charge of editing the film. This is so that we could insure that the editing part of the film turned out as best as it could. During editing we added sound effects and background music to help with more or the horror aspect to the movie. Another thing we added during editing was scary fonts on the title and also the credits. Editing was definitely a very thought through process and took some time. Me and my team wanted to make sure it was as good as possible.

Post Production: Final Thoughts

Image
Post Production: Final Thoughts. Finishing filming was definitely a relief for me and my team. During filming there was definitely a lot of pressure to make sure that we could get the best and right shots and clips that we needed to put together the film. We also kept making sure that the ACT shot list and script matched with what we were filming. One thing that me and my team wished we could have done is be more organized in the way we shot the clips and the order of everything we did. But still in the end we managed to get all the clips that we needed and now it’s time to edit them and put them in order so we can complete the first draft of the opening film.

Production week: Day 2

Image
Production week: Day 2. During production day 2, me and one of the main characters took some shots during school hours, this was because we wanted to make sure we were giving the effect that our film was happening in the world setting that we created for our film. During this filming time we were able to get the rest of the shots needed for our first draft of the opening film. We also were able to complete the vision that we created for our film. One thing that was difficult recording on day 2, was when filming during school hours it was hard to get shots without major background noise or background characters that weren’t apart of the film.

Production week: Day 1

Image
Production week: Day 1. The first day of filming me and my team wanted to make sure we could get a lot of the clips and shots that we needed to get, just in case we weren’t able to get another opportunity to film. Some of the first clips that we got included shots of the main character going through their everyday life and following the script and ACT shot list that we created. More shots that we got included the shots of the second main character and we also followed the script and ACT shot list for this as well. During day 1 we had about an hour to an hour and a half to get as much footage as we could. Me and my team were able to get most of the footage we need on the first day.

Pre-Production: Storyboard

Image
The photos above are the storyboards that me and my team created to help plan out our opening film. Creating these storyboards helped us with seeing the vision that we have for our film more clearly. It laid everything out and helped us see what we needed to improve on or fix.

Pre-Production: Script

Image
This is the script that we plan on using for the opening film. When creating the script we wanted to make sure that we gave enough information to where the audience could understand the objective of the movie and understand the theme that was trying to get put out. This was another tedious  process that definitely  took some thinking and also many edits. The script was created around the same time the ACT shot list was created. This is because me and my team wanted to make sure that all the information correctly lined up and everything flowed smoothly. While creating the script we also thought about ways to show the main characters personality's  and how they act in the films world.

Pre-Production: Planning Document 6

Image
This is the 6th document of the pre-production planning document. In this section of the document me and my team worked on figuring out exactly how our scenes were going to go and the exact angle and camera movement we were going to use. Filling out this section of the document was very important because it gives a clear understanding of how the movie is going to flow and the different types of angles, and framing, and camera movements that are going to help the movie get put together. This part of the document was definitely  the longest part to fill out and was the most  tedious. Me and my team wanted to make sure that the vision we were creating in our heads, matched up with the ACT shot list and the correct information was filled in correctly.

Pre-Production: Planning Document 5

Image
This is the 5th document of the pre-production planning document. This document gives information about the save the cat beat sheet narrative structure. While reading this document me and my team got very informed about what it was and what it meant to have beats in our film. When filling out this part of the document we had to figure out what exactly our beats were. While working on this it helped us get a deeper understanding about our film and how beats will work for our film.

Pre-Production: Planning Document 4

Image
This is the 4th document of the pre-production planning document. This part of the document list information about the setting of the world that our film is taking place in. When planning out the film from the very beginning me and my team wanted to make sure that the setting of the film fit the movie and that the audience watching the film felt as if they were living in that world. We wanted the setting to feel relatable and understandable to the audience watching the film. While filling out this document it helped give a clear understanding on exactly how we wanted the setting to be and everything about it.

Pre-Production: Planning Document 3

Image
This is the 3rd document of the pre-production planning document. This part of the document lists information about our main characters and also our supporting characters. When it comes to main characters me and my team wanted to make sure that the personality that we wanted the actor to portray was getting to the audience and we kind of  wanted the audience to feel like they know the character on a personal level so they could get a deeper understanding about the movie. This also goes for the supporting characters as well. Filling out this part of the document really did help me and my teaming with having a very clear understanding about how we want the actors to portray their characters.
